I read a comment somewhere saying that they sort of found the sweet spot between the campy 60s show and his Dark Knighty-ness, which I think is spot on.
I think it was 20 seconds into the very first episode when Batman pulled a bat-lightsaber out of his utility belt, and went to town. That gave me an inkling to the tone of the show...
...but over the course of the first 3 episodes, The Dark Knight went to outer space, Gorilla City, and Atlantis, with Gotham nowhere to be found. I knew then that it was gonna be something special.
(And as a lifelong DC fan, I've always had a soft spot in my heart for the D-Listers: The Ten-Eyed Man, Tiger Shark, Killer Moth, etc. This show has worked wonders with proving they're viable characters.)
It was a breath of fresh air (or stale air that seems fresh compared to the modern stale air).
ReplyDeleteAweome!
ReplyDeleteWhen B:BB first came on I dismissed it as silly. After watching it for a while with the kidlets I've grown to really like it. I, too, will miss it.
